In 2010, Casino Canberra has sponsored the Raiderrettes. You can meet some of the girls each away game. How? Be at the Casino when the Raiderettes help cheer on the Raiders near the Casino's BIG screen just before the game is broadcast.
Just some of the recent activities we have been involved with include:
• The CFMEU Children’s Charity: A giant Teddy bear used to collect funds for this important community service has been placed in the foyer of Casino Canberra. It was unveiled by Casino Canberra General Manager Melvin Bartholomeusz and CFMEU ACT Secretary, George Wassan. Next time you’re in the Casino, drop any spare change in the hat to help Canberra’s Children.
•The Neighbourhood Watch Household Safety Manual: A FREE booklet created in conjunction with Neighbourhood Watch and the AFP. These have been printed and distributed to every household in the ACT. Produced and printed by Casino Canberra.
• Australian Red Cross: Casino Canberra have a close association with the Australian Red Cross and helps them in their local work, which assists one in eleven ACT residents everyday through programs such as Meals on Wheels, Elderly support and youth services.
• Breast Cancer Network Australia at their Pretty in Pink event.
• Mumbulla Foundation: a purely philanthropic organization that has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to community services in and around the Mumbulla Region, just south of Canberra.
• Newborn Intensive Care Foundation: Casino Canberra continues to support this important local organization assisting critically ill babies.
We also contribute to the economy by providing nearly 400 jobs and attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Our most dramatic contribution is the one we make directly to the community through our government.
Total contributions to the ACT are now $219 million through taxes and the total net benefit the Casino has contributed to the ACT is between $291 million and $369 million (Source: Ernst + Young Casino Canberra Economic Impact Study 2006. 'Casino Canberra Contribution to the ACT economy').
That’s a great deal of support put back into the community and one of the reasons why Casino Canberra is the heart and soul of the city.
